After the unprecedented success of the inaugural 2014 World Thrombosis Day (WTD) campaign, organizers hope to continue the growth in global awareness on October 13, 2015. This year’s campaign focus remains on hospital-associated venous thromboembolism (VTE) as studies have shown that up to 60 percent of all VTE cases occur during or after hospitalization.

WTD LogoMore than 175 partner organizations in more than 50 countries participated in WTD 2014, and that number continues to grow. Organizers are also grateful for the corporate support for this important public health issue.

To learn more, please attend the World Thrombosis Day program and panel discussion, “World Thrombosis Day: From Global Conversation to Global Catalyst,” on Sunday, June 21, from 13:00-15:00 (1-3 p.m.) in room 717 of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The WTD Steering Committee, international partners and corporate supporters will discuss the WTD Campaign as it enters its second year.  From highlighting the troubling fact that 1 in 4 people are dying from causes related to thrombosis to encouraging others to get involved in this important awareness movement, the program will be informative and inspiring.
